Case Study: OWI GmbH achieves efficient wood waste recycling with UNTHA shredding technology

A UNTHA Case Study

Preview of the OWI GmbH Case Study

OWI GmbH saves 125,000 liters of heating oil per year with UNTHA

OWI GmbH, a medium-sized family-owned manufacturer of molded wood and plastic parts, required a shredding solution for large, bulky wood waste with high metal content. The challenge was to find a shredder that could handle metal impurities and automatically separate the metal while ensuring maximum operational and personnel safety. This led them to partner with UNTHA for a suitable shredding technology.

UNTHA implemented its LR1400 single-shaft shredder, a robust system installed in a pit with integrated conveyor technology and an automated drum magnet for metal separation. The solution allows OWI to process approximately 300 tons of residual wood annually. The resulting wood chips now fuel the company's own heating plant, saving an estimated 125,000 liters of heating oil per year and eliminating reliance on external disposal companies. This efficient system from UNTHA provides significant cost and energy savings for the customer.
