CEMEX Colombia processes 2,000 tons of waste a month with UNTHA

CEMEX Colombia, a subsidiary of a Mexican building materials group, needed a shredding solution to process heterogeneous commercial waste, tires, and other materials into high-quality substitute fuels for its energy-intensive cement production. Their goal was to make their energy supply more sustainable and reliable. They required a single-stage shredder capable of handling different material streams, producing various RDF qualities, and operating with low energy consumption.

The vendor UNTHA implemented its XR3000C shredder, which flexibly processes a wide range of materials. The shredder's interchangeable screens allow for the production of different RDF qualities, ensuring optimal energy yield. This solution processes approximately 2,000 tons of material monthly, significantly reducing CEMEX's CO₂ emissions and production costs by replacing coal. It also prevents thousands of tons of waste from going to landfill.
