Biohort processes pallets into 30–40 mm biomass chips with UNTHA LR1400

Biohort GmbH, a leading European producer of high-quality garden sheds, faced the challenge of efficiently recycling large quantities of residual timber like pallets and packaging wood at its new plant in Austria. They required a solution to shred this waste wood into chips for use in their biomass plant, with specific needs for throughput and material handling. This led them to partner with vendor UNTHA.

UNTHA implemented an LR1400 shredder equipped with a special hopper, conveyor belt, and metal separator. This system efficiently processes the wood into 30–40 mm chips at a rate of up to 1.5 t/h, with metal parts being removed automatically. The resulting wood chips are now used for thermal recycling in Biohort's own biomass plant, allowing the company to effectively utilize its waste material.
