How Talentech uses feature flags to kickstart coordination across the HR talent journey

Talentech, an Oslo-based HR software provider, faced growing complexity as multiple monoliths and microservices converged into a single product suite. Rapid growth, long test phases (including a code freeze and two-week preproduction test), frequent incidents and a limited in‑house feature toggle solution slowed releases and increased coordination overhead. To address this, Talentech adopted Unleash—first the self‑hosted open‑source edition and later Unleash Enterprise—for feature management.

Using Unleash to implement feature toggles, gradual rollouts and per‑team releases alongside automated builds in Azure DevOps, Talentech enabled trunk‑based development and safer production testing. Unleash helped reduce deployment size and serious incidents, move a team from quarterly to weekly releases, streamline cross‑team coordination and centralize dependency control; today five teams across 16 apps use Unleash with 184 feature toggles in place.
