A Universal Robots Case Study
Bajaj Auto, the world’s third largest motorcycle manufacturer, needed a way to automate its highly labor-intensive, space-constrained assembly lines while maintaining precision, standardization, and ergonomics for a large workforce that included many women. To address this challenge, Bajaj Auto chose Universal Robots and its UR10 collaborative robot for its assembly operations.
Universal Robots implemented a standardized cobot solution after extensive testing, and Bajaj Auto deployed it across multiple functions including material handling, machine tending, decal application, deburring, vision applications, bolt tightening, sealant application, and welding. The result was improved productivity, flexibility, reliability, reduced power consumption, zero annual maintenance costs, and better employee well-being; Bajaj also reported that nearly 50% of the assembly-line workforce is women, and the cobots helped support safe, precise, and more ergonomic work.
