VCN Industries, a medical device manufacturer, sought to automate the precise engraving of small dental implants to boost productivity and improve operator safety by eliminating a repetitive and strenuous manual task. They contacted Universal Robots and their certified integrator, Archytas Robotics, to develop a solution using a UR5e collaborative robot.

The solution implemented by Universal Robots' partner involved a complete cobotic cell featuring a UR5e cobot equipped with a Schunk gripper and an Asyril feeding system. This automated station handles parts autonomously, performing night shifts and engraving up to 30,000 parts per month. The results for VCN Industries included a 50% productivity gain, a significant reduction in marking errors, and the elimination of musculoskeletal disorder risks for operators.
