A Universal Robots Case Study
Hailo GmbH & Co. KG, a metal and machining manufacturer, needed a way to handle new labeling requirements for stepladders and to ease physically demanding, repetitive work amid skilled labor shortages. The company also needed an automation solution that could fit into a compact production area with little room for safety fencing.
Universal Robots supplied three cobots—UR5, UR10, and UR10e—to automate ladder instruction placement and machine tending for sheet metal parts. The UR5 applies operating instructions and accessories to ladders, while the UR10 and UR10e feed painted sheet metal cylinders into die-cutting machines; the result was cost-optimized production, improved employee well-being, and consistent quality, with the UR5 reportedly paying for itself in less than a year.
