Universal Robots On The Curriculum

Technical College of Jutland wanted to add robotics and automation to its curriculum so students could work on real apprenticeship-style projects. To support this goal, the school chose a Universal Robots UR5 cobot because it was user-friendly, flexible, mobile, and affordable compared with similar solutions.

Universal Robots’ UR5 was used by students to build an automatic stock management system, programming the robot through its graphical interface to pick items from storage and sort them into three piles with high precision. The project was a success, earning top marks for the students, and the college said the robot’s ease of use and ability to work safely alongside students made it valuable enough to consider acquiring two more robots for its new Automation Technologist program.
