Universal Robots Helps Guangzhou Li Gong to Transform Into a Smart Factory

Guangzhou Li Gong Industry Co., Ltd. is a metal and machining manufacturer that needed a more flexible way to handle repetitive CNC loading and unloading as customer orders increased and workpieces changed frequently. Traditional industrial robots were hard to program, required large safety fences, and were not well suited to the company’s small-batch, multi-variety production needs. Universal Robots cobots, including UR5, UR10, and UR16e, were used as part of the company’s automation plans.

Universal Robots helped Guangzhou Li Gong build its CoSi unattended cobot platform by integrating UR cobots with CNC milling, turning, EDM, and CMM applications. The result was faster deployment, easier programming, and safer human-robot collaboration without extra guardrails. Guangzhou Li Gong reported that one worker could now supervise five CNC machines instead of one per machine, and a 6-CNC setup could be run with 3 workers across 3 shifts instead of 9, while setup could take as little as 15 minutes and product switching as little as 1 minute.
