Universal Robots Delivers Half a Million Dollars in Annual Savings at Coty Cosmetics

Coty Cosmetics, the worldwide cosmetics company behind brands like Sally Hansen, Rimmel, and CoverGirl, needed a cost-effective way to automate repetitive, ergonomically challenging picking and packing tasks at its Maryland powder presses. With 12 presses to support and traditional industrial robots proving too expensive and inflexible, Coty turned to Universal Robots and collaborative automation.

Universal Robots, working with integrator Sydorko Automation, implemented eight cobots—UR3e and UR5e—mounted on four mobile carts to inspect, pick, and pack “godets” from the presses using 3D vision and PLC integration. The solution enabled fast changeovers and safe operation alongside employees, while delivering an estimated $500,000 in annual savings and freeing up 13 employees for more value-added work.
