Three collaborative applications with UR Robots help automotive supplier MANN+HUMMEL IBÉRICA increase productivity and optimize resources

MANN+Hummel’s Spanish subsidiary, MANN+HUMMEL IBÉRICA, needed to improve productivity and reduce costs in automotive parts manufacturing without adding operators or creating overproduction. To address this challenge, they turned to Universal Robots and its UR10 cobots for collaborative machine-feeding and part-transfer tasks.

Universal Robots helped MANN+HUMMEL implement three UR10 cobot applications working side-by-side with operators across assembly cells, synchronizing loading/unloading, moving parts between machines, and matching output to demand. The results included faster machine loading and unloading in one cell, with cycle time reduced from 16 seconds to 10 seconds, plus improved productivity, better resource use, and enough success that MANN+HUMMEL is considering additional cobot applications in inspection and packaging.
