Potting Electronic Boards With Collaborative Robots

Life Elettronica, an Italian manufacturer of electronic boards in Modena, wanted to automate its potting process to replace a manual machine that required constant operator presence. The company needed a solution that could fit into a very small workspace while maintaining high quality and repeatability standards. Universal Robots provided a UR3 collaborative robot to meet these requirements.

Universal Robots implemented the UR3 cobot for potting, allowing Life Elettronica to process 20 electronic boards at once in a roughly 15-minute cycle without protective barriers. The solution improved productivity, efficiency, and yield, preserved process quality, and reduced defects while freeing operators to focus on higher-value tasks. Universal Robots also enabled fast installation and easy programming, helping the company expand its use of collaborative robots.
