Pick & Place Application And Spraying For Coating Loudspeaker Membranes

Beyerdynamic, a German audio equipment manufacturer, needed to increase productivity by 50% without sacrificing the high quality standards of its loudspeaker membranes. To automate a delicate coating step that had been done by hand, Beyerdynamic worked with Universal Robots and introduced collaborative robots into the process.

Universal Robots implemented a two-robot solution using a UR5 with a Robotiq wrist camera and 2-finger gripper for pick and place, plus a UR3 with an integrated spray gun for coating the membranes. The system improved quality consistency and increased productivity by 50% at this stage of production, while also being easy for employees to learn and deploy thanks to plug-and-play integration.
