Osaka Nursery Realizes Substantial Labor Saving by Introducing Cobots to the Seedling Cultivation Process

Osaka Nursery, a seedling producer in Japan, was struggling with labor shortages caused by the country’s aging population and difficulty securing skilled workers. To reduce reliance on manual labor in its seedling cultivation process, the company turned to Universal Robots and its UR10e cobot.

Universal Robots implemented the UR10e to automate placing containers on a conveyor in the seedling-growing process, a repetitive task that had previously required two people. The result was a reduced labor requirement from two workers to one, freeing staff for other tasks and helping Osaka Nursery build a more scalable response to future labor shortages, while benefiting from the cobot’s compact size, safety, and easy programming.
