Emtek, a Los Angeles-based door hardware manufacturer and part of ASSA ABLOY, needed a more consistent way to handle glue dispensing in its high-mix, low-volume door knob production. The manual process made it difficult to control epoxy volume and dispensing consistency across frequent changeovers, and traditional automation was not a good fit.

Universal Robots implemented a UR5 cobot to dispense glue accurately while working side by side with an operator who places the knob after application. The solution standardized the process, simplified troubleshooting, and enabled easy program changes between runs; Emtek reported that this collaborative setup doubled daily throughput per man-hour and reduced overtime while improving quality and efficiency.
