A Universal Robots Case Study
EVCO Plastics, a custom injection molder in DeForest, Wisconsin, needed a way to staff round-the-clock production despite low unemployment, a shortage of third-shift workers, and a crowded factory floor that made fixed automation impractical. Universal Robots’ cobots, including UR5e and UR10e models, were introduced to support a variety of fast-changing tasks across the plant.
Universal Robots implemented a mobile cobot fleet for dispensing, assembly, inspection, 3D printer harvesting, and packaging, with UR+ certified peripherals such as force/torque sensors, vision cameras, and part feeders enabling fast integration and easy programming. The result was 24/7 production, quicker deployment of new projects in as little as two days, reduced reliance on automation specialists during off-hours, and improved consistency, ergonomics, and cost competitiveness across multiple jobs.
