Easy Programming At Low Cost Made Robotic Arm UR5 A Winner Robot

Linatex, an engineering company in the plastic and polymers industry, needed a flexible, low-cost automation solution for its highly variable product line and very small batch sizes. For nearly a decade, it struggled to find a robot system that could be reprogrammed quickly and economically without relying on expensive consultants or specialists.

Universal Robots provided the UR5 cobot, which Linatex now uses for CNC machine tending to insert and remove plastic components. The solution is easy for employees to reprogram by showing the robot the movements, and it has delivered a fast payback period of just 3–4 months, with use already in 10,000-piece runs and expected for batches as small as 50 pieces.
