Betacom Uses Collaborative Robots To Stay Ahead Of The Competition

Betacom, a New Zealand electronics and technology company, needed a highly precise way to build its new line of LED road lighting products while avoiding errors and contamination in assembly. To meet these requirements, Betacom worked with Universal Robots and Design Energy to deploy a UR10 collaborative robot for mounting and assembly.

Universal Robots’ UR10 solution picks circuit boards, places LED lenses in the correct orientations, and fastens components with a pneumatic screwdriver, enabling consistent, high-quality production with no human handling of the parts. The result was a flexible, easy-to-program system that helped Betacom take on higher-volume jobs with improved precision and accuracy, while also offering fast payback and safer collaboration.
