AQUAEL - Customer Case Study

AQUAEL, a Polish manufacturer of aquarium and pond products, faced rising labor costs, labor shortages, and the need to make production more efficient while moving employees away from strenuous, repetitive tasks. To address this, AQUAEL worked with Universal Robots and implemented the UR5 collaborative robot at its Suwałki plant to automate machining of heating elements for aquariums.

Universal Robots’ UR5 was set up to pick ceramic parts from pallets, load and unload them from a milling machine, and place processed parts back onto pallets, all in a small production area without extra guarding. The result was shorter production time, higher efficiency, and the redeployment of workers to other areas; the return on investment was estimated at 16–18 months, and AQUAEL planned additional robot implementations.
