A Universal Robots Case Study
ALPHA Corporation, a key and keyless lock manufacturer in Japan, faced labor shortages and rising labor costs while trying to improve productivity on existing production lines without changing their layout. To address this challenge, they turned to Universal Robots and its collaborative robots, including the UR3 and UR5.
Universal Robots implemented flexible, fence-free cobots at ALPHA Corporation’s Gunma Plant for tasks such as palletizing finished keys and loading/unloading molding machines. The solution allowed the company to automate without major line changes, run operations 24 hours a day, and improve productivity in the automobile key molding process by 20%, while also reducing errors and scrap.
