A Universal Robots Case Study
Allied Moulded, a U.S.-based manufacturer of non-metallic electrical boxes and enclosures, faced labor shortages, rising overtime, and the need to improve worker safety and production consistency. To address these challenges, the company looked to Universal Robots and its ActiNav autonomous bin-picking system to automate a repetitive and ergonomically difficult task.
Universal Robots implemented ActiNav on a UR10 cobot to handle deep-bin picking and place parts in the correct orientation for downstream operations. The solution reduced reliance on manual labor, helped move employees to more ergonomic and higher-value tasks, improved consistency, and allowed the system to run for whole shifts with minimal operator intervention, all while fitting into Allied Moulded’s limited floor space and supporting safe human-robot collaboration.
