Univention Supplies the IT Infrastructure for Teaching in Bremen‘s Schools

Bremen Senator for Children and Education is responsible for IT across 142 schools in the city-state, serving around 80,000 users and 10,500 client systems. The organization needed a centrally managed educational IT infrastructure that could provide cross-school services, secure access for different devices, and easy classroom management for teachers, and it worked with Univention using UCS@school and Univention Corporate Server (UCS).

Univention implemented a centralized identity and access management platform with UCS@school, Samba 4, and integrated services for email, internet access, file/print services, WLAN, and classroom administration. The solution automated user account provisioning, supported BYOD and school-owned devices, and reduced administrative effort while improving consistency and security; Bremen reports that the system has been reliable and flexible for 15 years, and that the new import interface delivered added flexibility and reduced process logic.
