A Univention Case Study
Oldenburgische Landesbank (OLB), a regional bank with around 170 branches and 2,150 employees, needed to manage a highly heterogeneous IT environment spanning Windows and Unix systems, Oracle databases, terminal servers, and branch-office infrastructure. With Univention’s Univention Corporate Server (UCS), OLB sought a central way to handle user administration and authentication across internal services and decentralized servers.
Univention implemented a central UCS domain, decentralized UCS servers in branches for print and file services, UCS-KVM/UVMM for virtualization in the data center, and synchronization with additional domains plus Active Directory integration. This gave OLB centralized identity management, improved efficiency and security in IT administration, and enabled the company to operate about 400 servers and virtual machines on UCS while modernizing its hypervisor platform from Xen to KVM.
