Finding a Common Denominator “Diakonie Eine Welt” Harmonises Isolated Systems

Diakonie Eine Welt, an Austrian social welfare organization, was challenged by its insufficient IT infrastructure, which relied on manually managed isolated systems and lacked central identity management for its hundreds of employees and volunteers. They required a solution to centrally manage devices and users and to integrate various services. They selected Univention and its Univention Corporate Server (UCS) product for its open-source base, its ability to integrate a Windows domain, and the support of a local service partner.

Univention implemented UCS to create a centralized identity management system, simplifying administration and providing a future-proof foundation. The solution integrated key services like their document management system, wiki, and email via LDAP and enabled users to work from any computer with their settings. The Head of IT concluded that Univention's solution minimized administrative effort enormously and made equipping, configuring, and administering systems much simpler.
