City of Beckum standardizes 5,200 accounts with Univention

The City of Beckum, a municipality operating nine schools for 4,500 pupils and 650 teachers, needed to centralize its IT infrastructure. Their challenge was to manage over 5,200 user accounts across multiple locations with a small team, while also integrating existing Apple devices and planning for future services like Microsoft Office 365. They sought a modular and expandable system to replace their disparate solutions.

The solution was implemented by Univention using their UCS@school product, which was externally hosted by NetCologne IT Services. This provided central identity management, integrated Apple devices via an MDM, and connected services like Nextcloud and Microsoft Teams. The project streamlined IT administration, significantly reduced the support burden on the small internal team, and provided a future-proof, scalable platform that improved efficiency for all users.
