A Unitrends Case Study
The Salvation Army’s Wisconsin and Upper Michigan division, a nonprofit that serves millions annually, suffered a catastrophic data center flood when a water main break destroyed seven servers, multiple appliances, network infrastructure and critical data. The outage threatened financial and SQL systems and forced operations into a contingency facility while the building was decontaminated.
Using a Unitrends offsite removable disk drive and support from IT partner DigiCorp, the organization performed a bare-metal recovery of 500 GB of data to replacement servers, restoring operating systems, applications, settings and drivers regardless of hardware brand. Desks and basic operations were back within 24 hours, email and files were available within two days, and the full data center and LAN were seamlessly redeployed once the facility was refurbished, with 100% of data restored.
