Case Study: KBA North America achieves rapid, reliable backups and instant recovery with Unitrends Recovery

A Unitrends Case Study

Preview of the KBA North America Case Study

Unitrends Recovery Series is Superior to Tape

KBA North America, a Dallas-based division of Koenig & Bauer AG and one of the world’s largest and oldest press manufacturers, faced growing backup demands as its Texas data center added servers, varied storage architectures and Unix systems. Their existing Backup Exec plus LTO tape solution was not scalable, did not support Unix, and could not provide whole-system recovery, so KBA engaged partner Network Performance, Inc., which recommended Unitrends.

KBA deployed a Unitrends Recovery 823 with RXDA, using the appliance’s built-in archive to replicate to removable SATA drives for off-site protection and later adding a multi-drive RXDA as data needs grew. The result was fast, reliable backups and restores across physical and VMware environments (seconds vs. hours), improved protection against accidental deletes and ransomware, and plans to enable vaulting to a disaster recovery site for greater resilience.
