Protecting the Data for Ontario’s Child Protection Services

Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society (WECAS), an Ontario child protection agency serving Essex County with about 500 staff, needed a reliable backup and disaster-recovery solution to protect 9 TB of critical case files, email and databases. With social workers operating 24/7 and data that can be life-or-death, extended downtime or data loss was unacceptable.

WECAS deployed Unitrends Recovery 823 at headquarters with daily replication to a Recovery 822 at an off‑site branch and monthly archived disk pools. The appliances deliver multiple daily snapshots, quick web-based restores and Recovery Assurance testing, enabling fast recoveries, meeting RTO goals and providing the agency with dependable protection and peace of mind.
