SGS Polymer Solutions (PSI), a Christiansburg, VA contract testing lab serving highly regulated industries such as medical and pharmaceutical, faced reliability and compliance challenges with aging HP servers, a NAS, and a Backup Exec tape system. PSI needed a modern, centrally managed infrastructure that met strict FDA/DEA archiving requirements while reducing software costs and operational complexity.

PSI implemented Nutanix HCI with AHV and Unitrends Recovery Series 814S to provide integrated protection, rapid file and VM restores, and replication to a tape robot for the required 7–11 year archives. The combined solution delivered full disaster recovery, simplified management, quicker restores, and lower software costs — “everything is running much more efficiently,” said IT Manager Brandon Landreth.
