A Unitrends Case Study
Financial Asset Management Systems (FAMS), a 20-year-old collections firm serving healthcare, government, education, financial services and media from its Georgia headquarters and a Missouri satellite, needed continuous, agile IT to support six-day operations. Their legacy backup process had become increasingly time-consuming and expensive—growing data volumes, encryption requirements and complex systems lengthened backup prep and administration and drove recurring costs, so the IT team began evaluating alternatives.
FAMS deployed Unitrends Enterprise Backup as virtual appliances in primary and DR sites, backing up about 30 VMs to SAN (with 10 more planned), and used deduplication, selective encryption and a single-pane web interface to simplify management. The result: the backup window shrank from 12 to 2 hours (saving roughly $15K in FTE costs annually), faster virtualized and file/image restores, reduced storage/transmission overhead, simpler compliance and much easier day-to-day administration.
