A Unitrends Case Study
Center for Disability Rights (CDR) is a Rochester-based nonprofit run by and for people with disabilities that provides non-residential, non-medical services. CDR was hampered by an outdated tape backup system that was slow and unreliable across its heterogeneous Windows, Linux, Xen and Exchange environment; competing options (Dell AppAssure, Barracuda) were either cost-prohibitive or lacked needed platform support.
CDR deployed a Unitrends Recovery 813 with removable drives, using nightly incremental backups and weekly archives to protect about 450 GB and accommodate future growth. The appliance simplified administration, enabled rapid restores, provided daily email reports and easy monitoring, and eliminated per-server licensing surprises—restoring confidence in their data protection and operations.
