UDT Introduces Peoples Bank of East Tennessee to the Advantages of Virtualization

Peoples Bank of East Tennessee, a locally owned bank with a patchwork data center built through years of acquisitions, was struggling with limited server storage, no shared storage, and reliance on individual file servers and tape backups. To improve customer service and support new applications, the bank turned to United Data Technologies (UDT) for a more modern infrastructure approach, including virtualization.

UDT implemented an almost entirely virtualized environment that consolidated resources, improved high availability, and enabled virtual desktops for mobile access. The results were dramatic: new projects that once cost $80,000 to $100,000 could be done for about $10,000, virtual servers could be deployed in 15 minutes, day-end processing dropped from up to 1.5 hours to 20 minutes, full backups fell from 12–13 hours to five hours, and restores improved from eight hours to two hours.
