FIU School of Hospitality and Tourism - Customer Case Study

FIU School of Hospitality and Tourism needed to modernize its culinary teaching and recording environment. The school’s outdated 45-degree mirror setup allowed only a handful of students to see the cooking surface at once, while poor acoustics and cumbersome filming made distance learning and classroom instruction disruptive. United Data Technologies (UDT) was brought in to design a more advanced audio-visual solution for the lab.

UDT replaced the mirror with three 65-inch Panasonic plasma monitors, installed six high-definition Panasonic cameras, added JBL speakers and ceiling/Lavalier microphones, and integrated confidence monitors, Crestron controllers, and a wall-mounted PC teacher’s station. The result was a state-of-the-art cooking lab that let all students see the lesson clearly, enabled smoother video recording without interrupting class, and gave the school a stronger image for marketing and recruitment.
