Unit4 Cloud ERP frees £200K for service delivery

Southampton City Council, a unitary authority serving roughly 254,000 residents (and around 300,000 citizens and businesses), struggled with fragmented data across more than 400 services and separate legacy systems that made reporting, procurement visibility and front-line service delivery inefficient and time consuming.

The council implemented a connected Unit4 cloud ERP across finance, procurement, HR and payroll with automation and self‑service, creating a single “golden record” and better procurement control. That modernisation freed £200,000 to redirect into services and delivered other savings including £250,000 in procurement visibility, £80,000 and 500 hours from unified HR/payroll, ~£40,000 in technology cost avoidance and an expected £70,000 by retiring legacy income systems, while improving reporting, remote working and citizen self‑service.
