Case Study: Gwent Police achieves improved resource deployment and helps deliver up to £4M annual savings with Unit4 Financial Planning & Analysis

A Unit4 Financial Planning & Analysis Case Study

Preview of the Gwent Police Case Study

Two police forces save £4 million annually through collaborative finance and HR strategy

South Wales Police and Gwent Police, which together cover 60% of Wales and about 7,000 staff, faced fragmented, overlapping finance, HR, rostering and training systems with data trapped in silos. This disjointed technology delayed decision-making and made it difficult to allocate the right officers, with the right skills, to incidents when and where they were needed.

The forces implemented a shared Unit4 ERP with a single “golden record” of people and finance data, integrated with rostering (GRS), training (Kallidus), command-and-control, mobile and location systems. The consolidated platform — deployed in 19 months by South Wales and nine months by Gwent — has automated processes, released up to £4 million annually to frontline services, improved PO processing and enabled faster, evidence-based deployment of appropriately skilled officers.
