The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), the Canadian nonprofit responsible for the long‑term, intergenerational management of used nuclear fuel under the Adaptive Phased Management plan, needed to modernize as it prepares to scale. With growing projects, recruitment and stricter regulatory and financial oversight ahead, NWMO sought to replace manual, paper‑based processes with an agile, scalable system to gain real‑time visibility and control.

NWMO implemented Unit4’s ERP—rolling out Core Finance, Project Planning and Procurement, followed by HR and Payroll—to create a single source of truth across finance, HR and procurement. The automated, connected platform sped approvals and remote access, cut year‑end close from one month to two days, freed two finance staff for higher‑value work, and delivered improved contract and budget visibility, scalability and organizational agility.
