Preview of the Migros Case Study

Making life easier for store managers in switzerland

Migros Aare, a legally independent cooperative within Switzerland’s largest retailer Migros with 125 supermarkets and about 6,000 employees, faced a core operational challenge: store managers needed accurate, daily-aligned forecasts of sales, personnel hours and personnel costs but lacked interlinked KPIs and predictive tools. Without a per-store, per-day view that connected demand and staffing, forecasts, budgeting and staffing decisions were inefficient and reactive.

Working with Unit4, Migros Aare implemented the Retail Performance Management system—an interlinked FP&A tool that provides per-store, per-day forecasting, bottom-up/top-down budgeting, KPI dashboards and personnel-hour suggestions (implementable in 3–4 months). The solution delivered ROI in under eight months, cut monthly sales-to-FTE deviation to 0.2%, achieved 99.9% personnel-cost forecast accuracy for the current month (99.7% for three months), and helped 75% of stores meet or exceed personnel-cost targets, improving both profitability and in-store customer service.
