Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Stepping Hill Hospital and other local services with around 5,000 staff and a £300m annual budget, faced rising patient needs, an ageing estate, budget pressures and the operational challenges of the Covid‑19 pandemic. The trust needed better visibility and control of finances and procurement to support value‑based care, manage PPE and make faster, more informed strategic decisions.

Working with Unit4 Professional Services, Stockport upgraded its on‑premise Unit4 ERP to a unified, cloud‑based Unit4 solution on Microsoft Azure in one weekend. The move connected and automated finance and procurement, sped financial planning and close processes, and freed staff to focus on strategy — helping finance become a strategic partner, improving productivity and employee engagement, and enabling more efficient, data‑driven decisions (the trust now benchmarks up to 2% more efficient than the national average).
