CGIAR, the world’s largest global agricultural innovation network, faced fragmented and outdated business systems across nine Centres and its System Organization, hindering procurement, project management and HR & payroll processes. With roughly 7,000 staff to support and complex, grant‑funded workflows to manage, the organization needed a harmonized, flexible platform that could work in remote locations and enable cross‑Centre collaboration.

CGIAR implemented Unit4 ERP (People Platform)—covering financial management, HR & payroll, budget planning, procurement, project and grant management—with low‑bandwidth web access, API integration and managed cloud hosting. The solution delivered transparent, accurate grant tracking and live budget reallocation dashboards, enabled new analyses by combining administrative and scientific data (as IRRI did), raised security and service standards through shared hosting, and freed staff to focus on mission‑critical work.
