Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMet) is a further and higher education institution serving about 18,000 students across 10 campuses. Facing a fragmented finance ledger from mergers and an aging on-premise Unit4 system, the college struggled with manual, slow procurement and expense processes and needed to close a cost‑funding gap while becoming more adaptive and efficient.

BMet implemented Unit4 ERP SaaS with partner Agilyx to create a connected, automated finance platform. The cloud solution enabled monthly forecasting, real-time reporting and controls over a £1.9m capital programme, saved roughly one day per month in management accounting (12 days/year) and about 20 minutes per expense claim, and freed finance staff for strategic work—improving transparency, compliance and faster, better-informed decision‑making.
