Case Study: Indira Gandhi International Airport launches Terminal 3 on time with Unisys

A Unisys Case Study

Preview of the Indira Gandhi International Airport Case Study

Providing a positive experience for travelers to the 2010 Commonwealth Games and ensuring future scalability

Indira Gandhi International Airport worked with Unisys to open Terminal 3 in time for the expected surge of travelers for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, while also preparing for India’s fast-growing aviation demand. The airport needed a large-scale, scalable operations environment delivered under a very tight timeline.

Unisys advised on organizational processes and AOCC operating procedures, and coordinated the design, commissioning, and integration of more than 20 IT systems and services from 15 vendors, including networking, CCTV, access control, public address, flight information displays, check-in, boarding gates, and building management. As a result, Terminal 3 launched on schedule within 22 months and handled more than 140,000 passengers, 850 international flights, and 5,845 metric tons of belly cargo in its first week.
