Engineering a Successful Intranet to Support a Global Merger

Amec Foster Wheeler, a global engineering firm operating in more than 55 countries, needed to unify communications and reassure employees after its £2bn merger with Foster Wheeler. Facing multiple legacy SharePoint intranets and a stalled in‑house SharePoint 2013 effort, Amec Foster Wheeler engaged Unily to deliver a fast, cloud-based intranet-as-a-service—launching the new digital workplace, Onespace—to provide a single, modern platform for communications and work.

Unily implemented a ready-made digital workplace and CMS that integrated Office 365 tools (Yammer, SharePoint Online, Skype for Business, OneDrive), organized legacy sites into Workspaces, and centralized people and document access. The Unily solution drove measurable engagement and collaboration: Onespace enabled improved findability and productivity, with over 22,000 people on Yammer and an engagement rate of around 14,000 monthly active users, plus 650+ ideas submitted to the More4Less group, all delivered without months of bespoke development.
