Affiliated Distributors - Customer Case Study

Affiliated Distributors (AD), a North American wholesale buying group of more than 600 independent distributors and manufacturers, faced a major eCommerce challenge: members lacked the rich, consistent product content and taxonomy needed to compete with large online distributors. To address this, AD sought a partner for product content development and taxonomy design and engaged Unilog, leveraging Unilog’s CIMM2 platform, PIM capabilities and content services.

Unilog built and hosted a cloud-based master catalog and PIM, developed custom taxonomies and enriched product data for AD members. Unilog met an initial goal of 200,000 Industrial SKUs in nine months and exceeded 800,000 in the first year, ultimately delivering a master catalog of 3.46 million unique, enriched SKUs and expanding taxonomy from 8,000 leaf nodes in three months to 14,000 categories. As a result, AD members can export high-quality product content to their eCommerce sites (or subscribe to storefronts on Unilog’s CIMM2), improving online assortments and competitiveness.
