DB Cargo’s journey to digitalised outgoing invoicing processes

The customer, Deutsche Bahn, through its subsidiary DB Cargo, faced the challenge of standardizing its complex, international outgoing invoicing processes across fifteen different entities. Each country had specific legal requirements, and the existing system was no longer future-proof. To tackle this, DB's digital partner, DB Systel, worked with the vendor, Unifiedpost Group, to implement a global invoicing solution.

Unifiedpost Group provided a centralized digital output channel to handle the huge data volumes and complex invoice structures, ensuring compliance with all international legal mandates. After a nine-month implementation involving intensive collaboration, the project was successfully completed. The solution streamlined the process for DB Cargo's 150,000 annual invoices and significantly increased the proportion of electronic invoicing from 42% in 2016 to 71% by 2020.
