IT Portfolio Integration with Uniface

QBE, a large international insurer with a North American division, needed to consolidate multiple acquired companies onto a single IT platform and chose a policy administration system as the mission‑critical component. A Uniface‑based solution (XM Policy Administration) developed by a smaller acquisition proved the best fit after in‑depth technical and business evaluations by Cognizant and Deloitte.

QBE implemented XM rapidly—an initial version was built in nine months—and has since scaled it from 400 users and 50,000 policies to about 4,000 users and roughly 312,000 policies. A 20–25‑person Uniface team now supports the platform, which integrates claims and billing, speeds product rollouts, simplifies acquisition migrations (e.g., migrating 12 state products from Bank of America in under nine months), and enables browser‑based cross‑selling and improved user productivity.
