Delivering Mission-Critical Applications with Uniface

FCS is a Tokyo- and Osaka-based system integrator (~150 employees) that builds mission-critical enterprise applications across industries. A customer’s ambitious Electronic Ordering System — 230 screens, 40 batch jobs, 50,000 orders per day against a 300-table Oracle DB — had stalled after two years of .NET development and was abandoned due to poor processes, untestable production changes and low productivity.

FCS rebuilt the EOS using Uniface and an agile approach, integrating reporting and data conversion tools, deploying on VMs with Uniface Anywhere thin clients and leveraging Uniface’s repository for rapid change. The team delivered the complete, integrated application in six months (including functionality originally slated for later phases), achieved smooth deployment and strong end-user productivity, and set the project up for ongoing enhancements in logistics, marketing, web and mobile.
