Unicorn HRO Holds Court with Poyner Spruill

Poyner Spruill LLP, a US law firm with about 250 staff across four North Carolina offices, wanted to use SharePoint as an enterprise content management platform but needed it to work as a document management system as well. Using Unicorn HRO, specifically MacroView DMF on top of SharePoint 2007, the firm aimed to replace its older Docs Open 4.0 system and unify intranets, portals, and matter-related document management on one platform.

Unicorn HRO’s MacroView DMF solution added the DM functionality and familiar user experience needed to make SharePoint practical for legal document management, while Poyner Spruill also used custom integration and training to address security, search, and checkout issues. The new environment has been in production since June 2010, is popular with users, and has helped Poyner Spruill manage all content on a common SharePoint platform, reducing IT support and maintenance costs and freeing the firm from a proprietary DM system.
