A Uncountable Case Study
Repsol, a global multi-energy company pursuing net‑zero emissions by 2050, needed to develop more sustainable lubricants and fuels from massive libraries of raw ingredients and explore millions of possible formulations while relying on disconnected tools like spreadsheets and legacy software. To tackle this challenge, Repsol adopted Uncountable’s materials informatics platform to digitalize and consolidate formulation data and streamline R&D workflows.
Uncountable implemented a centralized platform that consolidated ~10,000 data points from 20 years of work, enabled machine learning and sequential learning routines, and improved cross‑lab collaboration. Back‑tests and early use delivered measurable impact—consistent savings of 30–40% fewer formulations per project—reducing experimental workload, cutting development costs, and accelerating the R&D cycle as Repsol scales and further integrates Uncountable across its operations.
