The Chefs’ Warehouse, a leading distributor of specialty foods to restaurants and culinary professionals across the U.S. and Canada, needed a faster, simpler way for busy chefs to reorder supplies on the go. Existing mobile web functionality wasn’t meeting the pace-of-work demands of their customers, so the company sought a streamlined mobile solution to make ordering quick and effortless.

Working with Unbound Commerce, Chefs’ Warehouse launched a native ordering app in a targeted trial to its top 10% of customers; the app was rapidly adopted and in its first month outperformed the long-standing mobile website. During the trial the app drove 18% of total e‑commerce sales, delivered a 3× higher conversion rate than mobile web, and its success prompted a full rollout and a Version 2.0 internal sales app.
