Fat Stone Farm - Customer Case Study

Fat Stone Farm, run by Bill and Liz Ferrell, turned their small‑batch elderberry and maple products into an ecommerce business on Shopify but faced seasonal demand spikes and high customer acquisition costs. They needed a scalable way to lower CPA, boost return on ad spend ahead of winter, and reach customers beyond limited search interest in elderberry products.

Partnering with agency Webistry, they used Unbounce landing pages (with a Shopify checkout integration), targeted Facebook audience research, popups, sweepstakes and refined retargeting/lookalike campaigns. The results: cost‑per‑acquisition fell from as high as $145 to $1.55, ROAS rose from 1.66x to 33.12x (tripling in five months and reaching 33x over 15 months), cost‑per‑lead dropped to $0.51, sweepstakes conversions hit 79.55%, and they collected over 15,000 leads.
